Jaco Prinsloo has left himself with some work to do after he carded a third round of two-under-par 69 on Friday in the third round of the Asian Tour’s Qualifying School-Final Stage.
With a cut to the top 70 and ties after the fourth round in the 90-hole tournament, Prinsloo finds himself in a share of 74th on two-under through 54 holes.
Of the South Africans in the field, only MJ Viljoen is inside the top 70 heading into the fourth round, with his one-over-par 72 in the third round leaving him on six-over and in a share of 30th.
The lead was held by China’s Wocheng Ye, who, at 17-under-par, was three shots clear of Korean Mingyu Cho. Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith carded a three-under-par 68 to move to 10-under and a share of ninth.
In the third round, Prinsloo made five birdies and a bogey, but a double-bogey on the sixth set him back. He will have to be more clinical than that if he is to play in the final round.
Luca Filippi and Kyle Barker also have work to do to get to the final round. Filippi slumped to a four-over 75 in the third round and Barker had a two-over 73. They are on one-under through 54 holes in a share of 85th.
Louis Albertse has a mountain to climb to get into the top 70 after a third round of two-over 73 left him on four-over for the tournament and in a share of 137th.
