Warwick Purchase carded a four-under-par 68 on Monday to join in a three-way share of the lead after the first round of the Bushveld Tour’s Blue Label Invitational #3 at Centurion Country Club.
Although he made bogey on the par-five first, he didn’t drop another shot, making five birdies on his way to the top of the leaderboard together with amateur Ryan van der Klis and Regan Steyn. Van der Klis also had just a single bogey on his card, and Steyn had two on his back nine after a superb five-under 31 on his front nine.
There were seven players in a share of fourth, one stroke behind the leading trio on three-under-par, with two players in a share of 11th on two-under-par. There were 24 players on par or better in the 85-man field.
