It was a quiet start for Jarvis in the Challenge Tour’s B-NL Challenge Trophy at the Twentsche Golf Club in Deldenerbroek, Netherlands, as he carded a two-under-par 69 in the opening round on Thursday.

There were plenty of birdies for the Sunshine Tour’s Rookie of the Year of last season, as he picked up six strokes, but he also made two bogeys and a double-bogey as he completed 18 holes four strokes off the lead. At the top of the leaderboard were Frenchman Benjamin Hebert and Swede Anton Karlsson, who led by one at six-under from Englishmen Alfie Plant and Jamie Rutherford and Germany’s Velten Meyer.

With Jarvis on two-under in a share of 29th was JJ Senekal, who currently lies second on the Road to Mallorca standings as he seeks to win his DP World Tour playing privileges. Senekal had five birdies and two bogeys on his card.

Brandon Stone was a shot further back on one-under in a share of 48th, together with Hadyn Porteous, Martin Vorster and Pieter Moolman.

On level-par and projected to miss the cut were Jaco Prinsloo and Dylan Mostert. Keenan Davidse was on three-over, and Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith was on four-over.

Up ahead, Sunshine Tour member and former Cape Town Open champion Rhys Enoch of Wales was on two-under together with Senekal and Jarvis.
