Jovan Rebula posted a four-under-par 67 on Friday to move into a share of seventh in the HotelPlanner Tour’s Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort at the halfway mark of the tournament.
Rebula started his round on the 10th hole, and he had to wait until he had made the turn in level-par before he picked up his first shot. He birdied the first, and soon after, three more gains came in a rush with three successive birdies from the third to the fifth. He dropped a shot on the sixth, but birdied his final hole of the day on the ninth.
He moved to seven-under-par through 36 holes, and was just three strokes off the lead. Quim Vidal of Spain was on top of the leaderboard at 10-under-par, after his second round of four-under 67. Vidal led by one from Scotland’s David Law, with four players in a share of third on eight-under. Rebula shared seventh with two other players.
JC Ritchie was a further shot back in a share of 10th on six-under-par after his second round of five-under-par 66. Ritchie’s scoring included an eagle three on his second hole of the day after he started on the 10th, four birdies and a bogey.
Wilco Nienaber was on two-under in a share of 44th after his second round of 69, while Justin Walters made the cut on the number at one-under-par with his second round of one-under 70.
