Paula Reto opened the LPGA Tour’s Lotte Championship in Hawaii on Wednesday with a one-under-par 71 to be in a share of 26th place, five shots off the lead.
Reto shared 26th with 22 other players, including countrywoman Ashleigh Buhai. Hannah Green of Australia held the lead after her first-round of six-under-par 66, which included eight birdies and two bogeys.
Reto had two birdies and a bogey on her card, after starting on the back nine with nine consecutive pars. She picked up birdies after the turn on five and six, but she made her bogey in her last hole, the ninth.
Buhai had an altogether more adventurous round. She also started on the 10th, and she made two birdies and a bogey ahead of the turn. She picked up two more shots on her homeward nine, but she also made two more bogeys.
