Paula Reto’s third round on Saturday was a very different affair from her bogey-free effort in the second round, but her one-under-par 71 put her in a share of 13th ahead of the final round of the PLGA Tour’s Buick LPGA Shanghai at Qizhong Garden Golf Club.

Reto made four bogeys in total in her third round, starting with two in the first three holes. The other two came on the back nine, on the 13th and the 16th. But she made two birdies on the front nine and three on her way home as she moved to nine-under-par for the tournament through 54 holes.

She was nine strokes behind the leader, Mao Saigo of Japan, who had a third round of seven-under-par 65 to hit the front. At 18-under, she led by one from China’s Ruoning Yin, who put herself firmly into contention with her eight-under 63. Korea’s Sei Young Kim was in third on 15-under.

Ashleigh Buhai had a third round of level-par 72 to remain at one-under for the tournament, and in a share of 53rd.
