In one of those inexplicable weeks when the algorithm puts some people up, and some down, South Africa’s top 10 women on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings all went down – despite there being no action on women’s golf tours around the world.
Only Paula Reto (pictured) will be in action internationally this week on the LPGA Tour, and she was down six places to 60th, so she gets a chance to reverse that trend.
South Africa’s top-ranked player, Ashleigh Buhai, was down one to 19th, and she will not be in action in the Lotte Championship in Hawaii.
The Ladies European Tour will only kick into action again in May, so the other players in South Africa’s top 10 will have to rely on local action in the Standard Bank Ladies Open at Royal Joburg and Kensington West on April 27. Players like Casandra Alexander, who is ranked fifth in South Africa at 264th, will benefit from the opportunity.
South Africa’s top 10:
- Ashleigh Buhai 19 (down 1)
- Paula Reto 60 (down 6)
- Lee-Anne Pace 158 (down 5)
- Nicole Garcia 199 (down 4)
- Casandra Alexander 264 (down 3)
- Kaleigh Telfer 527 (down 3)
- Stacy Bregman 549 (down 11)
- Kiera Floyd 662 (down 8)
- Nadia van der Westhuizen 663 (down 3)
- Lejan Lewthwaite 842 (down 18)
