While the leader went very low on Thursday in the first round of the LPGA Tour’s Cognizant Founders Cup in Clifton, New Jersey, Paula Reto opened with a solid two-under-par 70 for a share of 36th place.
Reto made an eagle, two birdies and two bogeys, and she was seven strokes behind the nine-under-par carded by the fast-starting Rose Zhang of the United States. Zhang had nine birdies in a flawless round, and led by two from Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom. There were three players in a share of third on six-under-par.
Reto started her round on the 10th, and made two birdies and two bogeys on her front nine. She made her eagle soon after the turn on the par-five second.
Ashleigh Buhai started her campaign with two birdies and a bogey for a one-under-par 71 and a share of 48th.
