Paula Reto carded a two-under-par 68 on Friday in the first round of the LPGA Tour’s Pelican Women’s Championship to be in a share of 23rd place.
The tournament was shortened from 72 to 54 holes after Tropical Storm Nicole forced Pelican Golf Club to stay closed on Thursday.
Reto kept her scorecard bogey-free, and made two birdies, on the sixth and the 17th. That left he six shots off the hot pace set by Maria Fassi of Italy. Fassi’s eagle and six birdies took her to eight-under and a two-stroke lead over five players, including Lexi Thompson of the United States.
Ashleigh Buhai’s card was particularly colourful, with five birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey for her one-under-par 69. She was in a share of 40th.
