Paula Reto found herself up two places in the latest Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings after the weekend, and is sitting pretty inside the world’s top 50 at 27th.

And, as if to show that the women’s ranking processes are as opaque and inexplicable as the men’s, South Africa’s fifth-best golfer by ranking, Casandra Alexander, dropped five places to 347th despite a top-20 finish on the Ladies European Tour when she came 13th in the Lalla Meryem Cup in Rabat, Morocco.

South Africa’s top-ranked woman golfer remains Ashleigh Buhai, and her position at 21st was unchanged after a week of no action on the LPGA Tour.

After the Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am in South Africa, Lee-Anne Pace and Nicole Garcia were inchanged, Stacy Bregman and Lejan Lewthwaite were up, and Cara Gorlei, Isabella van Rooyen and Kayleigh Telfer were down.

Newly-minted professional Keira Floyd is the 11th-best South African according to the rankings, and she was in 1338th.

South Africa’s top 10:

  1. Ashleigh Buhai 21 (unchanged)
  2. Paula Reto 47 (up 2)
  3. Lee-Anne Pace 162 (unchanged)
  4. Nicole Garcia 243 (unchanged)
