Paula Reto jumped 34 places on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings this week after her share of 37th in the rain-shortened Marathon LPGA Classic in Sylvania, Ohio – even without the chance of improving her position in the cancelled final round.

She moved inside the top 400 with her improvement taking her to 386th. That makes her the third-best South African woman player, behind Ashleigh Buhai who stayed unchanged in 76th, and Lee-Anne Pace, who climbed three places to 206th after her performance in the Ladies European Tour in London.

The 31-year-old South African has been having a solid run on the LPGA Tour with five cuts made in eight starts in the 2021 season, and that included the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at the end of June. She got herself into a good position in the Marathon LPGA Classic with a second-round six-under-par 65. Her best finish of the season came in the Volunteers of America Classic at the beginning of this month when she finished in a share of 14th.

She also climbed five places in the season-long Race to CME Globe to 103rd. Buhai is in 64th after not playing this past week, dropping six places on that list.
