Lyle Rowe climbed the leaderboard on Thursday in the second round of the Asian Tour’s Qualifying School Section E as he carded a one-under-par 70 to climb into a share of 13th place at Springfield Royal Country Club in Hua Hin, Thailand.

At two-under-par through 36 holes, he was seven shots behind the leader, Shiso Go of Japan, who had a four-under 66 to move to none-under. Go had a three-stroke lead over three players, Teayang Jung of South Korea, Australia’s Thomas Power Horan and another Korean, Jaehun Jeong.

It wasn’t easy for Rowe, and he closed with an eagle three on the 18th to go with his three birdies. Those gains counteracted the four bogeys he made.

In a share of 13th with him was Kyle Barker, who had a two-over 73 in his second round. Also on two-under with his compatriots was Albert Venter, who also had a one-under 70.

Drikus Joubert and Luca Filippi were in a share of 20th on one-under through 36 holes after rounds of level-par on two-over 73 respectively. Louis Albertse and Wynand Dingle were in a share of 26th on level-par after rounds of one-over and level-par.

Rigardt Albertse, Dylan Mostert, Regan Steyn, Herman Loubser, Noel Anderson and amateur Donavan Liddicoat all have work to do if they want to progress to the final stage.

At Section D at Thana City Country Club, Bangkok, Keegan Mclachlan carded a second round of two-under-par 68 to be in a share of 27th, 10 shots off the lead. MJ Viljoen also had a 68 and climbed to a share of 33rd. Pieter Moolman had a level-par 70 and was down in a share of 49th at two-over through 36 holes.
