Jayden Schaper saved the best for last on Sunday as he carded a closing six-under-par 65 to grab ninth place in the DP World Tour’s FedEx Open de France at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche in Paris.

It was his seventh top-10 finish of the season, and his seven birdies and just one dropped shot saw him move to 11-under-par for the tournament. That put him five strokes behind the winning total of 16-under-par. Michael Kim of the United States saved par on the final hole to keep himself one stroke clear of Australia’s Elvis Smylie and Jeong weon Ko of France. Brooks Koepka was unable to hold on for the win and he finished fourth after a closing three-under 68 during which he was unable to make a single birdie on the back nine.

For Schaper, the good finish means he is projected to rise seven places on the Race to Dubai rankings to 28th as the season draws to a close. He is almost certain to be in the play-offs at the end of the season, including the lucrative DP World Tour Championship. He will also be in the Nedbank Golf Challenge field.

Richard Sterne closed with a three-under 68, as he edges closer to perhaps retaining his playing privileges on the tour. He will rise 12 places to 116th.

Justn Harding finished in a share of 22nd, but he is projected to rise to only 170th. Darren Fichardt and Jacques Kruyswijk shared 49th on one-under-par. Fichardt remains inside the top 100 despite losing a place to fall to 94th, while Kruyswijk was up one place to 23rd.
