Jayden Schaper closed the PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship in Truckee, California on Sunday with six points in the modified stableford format of the tournament to finish in a share of 13th.
It was a good performance for Schaper, as his closing one-under-par 70 gave him a good haul of world ranking points in a PGA Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned tournament. With the value of PGA Tour events vastly over-inflated, his performance gives him a boost which a similar showing in Europe would not do.
In the end, his tournament total of 38 points – broadly speaking, there are three points for birdies and minus one for bogeys in the modified stableford scoring system – put him 11 points behind the winner, Nick Dunlap of the United States. Dunlap, who won on the PGA Tour as an amateur earlier in the season, now has his first win as a professional on the tour too.
MJ Daffue closed with a five-under 66 which gave him 12 points. At 33 for the tournament, he finished in a share of 33rd. That was a position he shared with, amongst others, Casey Jarvis, who was unable to add to his points tally with his closing round of two-over 73.
