Jayden Schaper was headed closer to being inside the world’s top 300 with a 26-place rise in the latest list issued by the Official World Golf Ranking after his share of 13th in last week’s DP World Tour tournament.

Although he stumbled to a closing two-over-par finish in the European Open in Germany, Schaper climbed from 330th to 304th after what was generally a pretty solid week for the South African.

He is now approaching his career-high ranking of 274th which he reached after finishing in a share of 20th in the 2021 Kenya Savannah Classic on the DP World Tour. Since then, he has been as low at 623rd, but he has had some recent performances that have put him on an upward trend again – so much so that he has leapfrogged Casey Jarvis, Jacques Kruyswijk and Louis de Jager on the list of South Africa’s top 25 players according to the official rankings.

Also getting a nice boost from his performance on the DP World Tour was Thriston Lawrence. His share of second in Germany gave him a 14-place bump on the rankings back inside the world’s 100 at 92nd.

South Africa’s top players remain Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who is unchanged at 57th, and Erik van Rooyen, who was down two places to 67th after his share of 42nd in the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open.
