Despite two bogeys on his homeward nine on Friday, Jayden Schaper managed to climb into a share of fourth at the halfway stage of the DP World Tour’s Austrian Alpine Open at Gut Altentann Golf Club in Salzburg, Austria.
Schaper had got it to five-under through 11 holes, with four birdies in his opening nine, before he made his first bogey on the 12th. He got that lost stroke back immediately with a birdie on the 13th, but he dropped another shot on the last hole of the day to get to seven-under through 36 holes with his four-under 66.
That put him just four strokes off the lead which was held at 11-under-par by first-round leader, Marcel Schneider of Germany. Schneider carded a second round of 66 to be two ahead of his countryman Nicolai von Dellinghausen. Tarren Callum of England was third on eight-under, and Schaper shared fourth with New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier.
Brandon Stone had a two-under 68 in the second round to be in a share of 11th on five-under, while Zander Lombard climbed into a share of 21st on four-under with his three-under 68.
Robin Williams did well with his four-under 66 lifting him to two-under-par and a share of 41st and inside the cut. Richard Sterne also made the cut at two-under after a level-par 70.
