Jayden Schaper carded a four-under-par 68 on Saturday to set himself up nicely for a final-round tilt at the title in the PGA Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned Barbasol Championship at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
The 22-year-old has grabbed the opportunity to play in the United States presented by access to the tournament provided by the simultaneous scheduling of the Scottish Open with both hands, and, at 14-under-par through 54 holes, he was in a share of fifth after his bogey-free round.
Trevor Cone of the United States led the tournament after a third-round nine-under-par 63 took him to 17-under and a one-stroke edge over compatriot Lucas Glover and Swede Vincent Norrman. France’s Adrien Saddier was in fourth, with Nathan Kimsey of England sharing fifth with Schaper.
One shot further back, and also relishing American conditions was Louis de Jager on 13-under after a third round of three-under-par 69. He was in a seven-way share of seventh.
MJ Daffue was on 10-under in a share of 23rd after a two-under 70, while JC Ritchie slipped to a share of 49th on six-under with his two-over 74.
