Charl Schwartzel was the best South African finisher in the LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok on Sunday as he closed with a six-under-par 66 to move to seven-under for the event and 23rd place.
This was after Branden Grace led after the first round, but withdrew after just three holes in the second round with an injury. Schwartzel and the South African team, Stinger GC, had to continue without Grace, and he, captain Louis Oosthuizen and Shaun Norris were only able to finish in 11th place on 20-under, a gaping 25 shots behind the winning team, Fireballs GC, consisting of Sergio Garcia, Abraham Ancer, Carlos Ortiz and the individual winner, Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra.
Lopez-Chacarra carded a closing three-under-par 69 to move to 19-under for the event, three strokes clear of runner-up Patrick Reed.
Norris also finished on seven-under in 29th after a closing 69, while Oosthuizen was in 45th after a third-rind one-over 73 left him on level-par for the event.
