Louis de Jager pulled off his second top 10 of the 2023 DP World Tour season when he finished in a share of fourth in the Andalucía Masters at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in San Roque, Spain.

His first came last November in the Joburg Open where he finished fifth, and he went one place higher with a closing round of four-under-par 68. At 13-under for the tournament, he was three strokes behind the winner, Adrian Meronk of Poland. Meronk closed with a 66 to edge out Matti Schmid of Germany by one shot. Richard Mansell of England was third.

De Jager made three birdies on the front nine to reach 12-under and make his play for the top spot. A dropped shot on the 11th set him back, however. But he birdied 14 and 15 to stay in touch.

His finish saw him climb 26 places on the Race to Dubai ranking to 68th. He will need a similarly big jump from his performance in Qatar this week if he is to play his way into the Nedbank Golf Challenge which tees off on November 9.

Thirston Lawrence closed with a two-under-par 70 to finish in a share of 34th. Zander Lombard had a final-round 73 to slip to a share of 46th, while Deon Germishuys closed with a level-par 72 to finish in a share of 66th.
