Casandra Alexander was the only South African to climb in the Rolex World Women’s World Golf Rankings last week after her share of 14th in the Ladies European Tour tournament in Germany.
She had a tiny boost of two places to 263rd as her 2023 campaign holds hope of getting her inside the world’s top 200.
With so few South African women playing on the main international circuits – the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour – it’s difficult for players not able to try and perform week after week to make any headway.
Paula Reto is one of two players who play regularly on the LPGA Tour, and her missed cut last week in the Meijer LPGA Classic saw her down three places to 78th. She is one of two South Africans inside the world’s top 100. That’s the same number inside that mark as the South African men.
Ashleigh Buhai is the other inside the top 100, and she slipped one spot from her career high last week to 13th.
Lee-Anne Pace, Nicole Garcia, Stacy Bregman and Lejan Lewthwaite are all looking for performances on the LET which will push them higher than their current positions. Pace has been as high as 31st, Garcia 192nd, Bregman 149th and Lewthwaite 593rd.
