Ian Snyman carded a two-under-par 70 on Saturday to keep himself in touch with the upper reaches of the leaderboard after the third round of the Asian Tour’s Blue Canyon Phuket Championship in Thailand.
He made three birdies and dropped just a single shot – on the 17th – as he finished the round on a tournament total of eight-under-par for a share of 13th place. He was six shots off the lead which was shared by American Sihwan Kim and Chinese Taipei’s Chan Shih-chang, who each signed for a third-round of eight-under 64.
Snyman is playing his first Asian Tour event since qualifying for that circuit in 2019, and then seeing COVID-19 cause it to be put on pause for nearly two years. He has been superb on the BIG Easy IGT Tour, and is on the verge of winning his Sunshine Tour card through that route.
He started his third round with seven consecutive pars, and then picked up three birdies in a row around the turn on eight, nine and 10. He held things together with six birdies in a row after that, but then dropped a shot on the par-three 17th. He closed his round out with a par on 18.
