Ian Snyman shared the best finish by a South African on Sunday as his closing level-par 71 gave him a share of 43rd in the Asian Tour’s Singapore Open at the Sentosa Golf Club.
With him on one-under-par for the tournament was Jaco Ahlers, after a week during which seven South Africans and a Zimbabwean started. Ahlers and Snyman were 15 shots behind the winner, Jeongwoo Ham of South Korea. At 16-under, Ham was two strokes clear of runner-up Cameron John of Australia.
Snyman overcame a double-bogey seven on the fourth hole of the final round, and closed with three birdies in his final five holes to reach level-par. Ahlers carded a closing one-over-par 72, with three birdies and four bogeys.
The other South African who made the cut was Jbe’ Kruger, who finished in a share of 52nd on one-over-par after his closing one-over 72.
Kieran Vincent of Zimbabwe finished in a share of 12th after his closing two-under 69 took him to six-under-par for the tournament.
The other South Africans in the field were Martin Vorster, Oliver Bekker, Deon Germishuys and Justin Harding.
