Ian Snyman might have battled to keep his hat on in the wind on Saturday, but he kept his head with a second successive six-under-par 65 in the third round of the Asian Tour’s New Zealand Open at Millbrook Golf Resort in Arrowtown, New Zealand.
Snyman opened with a level-par 71 in the first round, but he clicked into overdrive in the next two rounds to move to 12-under-par for the tournament and a share of sixth ahead of the final round. He was just two strokes off the lead which was shared by Australians Matthew Griffin and veteran Scott Hend at 14-under. There were three players, including the leading New Zealander, Josh Geary, in a share of third in 13-under.
Snyman’s third-round 65 could have been better, as he dropped shots on the ninth and 13th holes, and, with just pars on those two holes, he could have been in a share of the lead.
