Snyman opens with 3-under 68 in Asian Tour’s season-opener

Ian Snyman carded a bogey-free three-under-par 68 on Thursday in the first round of the Asian Tour’s 2024 season-opener at the Mines Resort & Golf Club in the IRS Prima Malaysian Open.

Snyman picked up shots on the first, the 11th and the 15th as he finished the first 18 holes in a share of 37th place. He was six strokes off the lead which was shared by Veer Ahlawat of India and Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond, who each had a nine-under-par 63. They led by one from Richard Lee of Canada, who was on eight-under.

The other South African in the field was David Meyers, playing in his debut Asian Tour tournament after securing his card at the qualifying school. He signed for a one-over-par 72 after making three bogeys and two birides.
