Although no-one was going to catch Tom McKibbin on Sunday, Louis Oosthuizen would be well satisfied with his share of third on 19-under-par in the Asian Tour’s Link Hong Kong Open at Hong Kong Golf Club in Deep Water Bay, Hong Kong.
The Northern Irishman bogeyed the final hole of the tournament, but he still carded a closing seven-under-par 63 to reach 27-under-par for a seven-stroke victory over American Peter Uihlein. Uihlein made a quadruple-bogey eight on the 14th to effectively remove any pressure on McKibbin.
Oosthuizen shared third with Japan’s Tomoyo Ikemura and MJ Maguire of the United States. The 2010 Open champion made four birdies and a bogey in his closing three-under-par 67.
His fellow-major champion, Charl Schwartzel, who won the 2011 Masters, also closed with a three-under-par 67 to reach 15-under for the tournament and a share of 14th. His round had an eagle, three birdies and two bogeys.
Ian Snyman finished strongly with a four-under 66 lifting him to a share of 59th on seven-under-par.
Zimbabwean brothers Kieran and Scott Vincent finished on 14-under and 11-under respectively, to share 21st and 36th.
