On a low-scoring day on Thursday in the first round of the HotelPlanner Tour’s Dormy Open at Upsala Golf Club in Upsala, Sweden, Jovan Rebula fared best of the South Africans in the field with his opening five-under-par 66.
It was a bogey-free effort by the South African, and he eased into a share of 16th place, three shots off the lead. At the top of the leaderboard, it was a four-way share of the lead between Norway’s Baard Skogen, Frenchman Felix Mory, Dane Ander Emil Ejlersen and England’s Alfie Plant at eight-under-par. There were three-players in a share of fifth on seven-under, eight in a share of eighth on six-under, and Rebula shared 16th with 14 other players.
Amongst those on five-under in a share of 16th was Daniel van Tonder, who put together an eagle, four birdies and a bogey in his opening round.
Nikhil Rama had a two-under 69 and was in a share of 68th, Bryce Easton opened with a one-under-par 70 to be in a share of 91st, while JC Ritchie had a one-over 71.
