Brandon Stone made a big move on Friday and put himself just one stroke off the lead after a second-round of three-under-par 67 in the Challenge Tour’s Challenge de Espana at Club de Golf Playa Serena in Almeria, Spain.
Stone made three birdies on his front nine after starting his round on the 10th, and then overcame a double-bogey five on the par-three second after the turn with two more birdies on the third and fifth to move to six-under through 36 holes.
He was in a four-way share of seventh with no fewer than six players in a share of the lead on seven-under.
The leading South African after the first round, Keenan Davidse, had a one-over 71 to be two-under at the halfway mark in a share of 32nd.
Jaco Prinsloo, Casey Jarvis, Darren Fichardt, JJ Senekal and Tristen Strydom all missed the cut.
