It wasn’t plain sailing for Brandon Stone on Saturday as he battled his way to a one-over-par 73 in the third round of the Challenge Tour’s Swiss Challenge at Golf Saint Apollinaire in Folgensbourg, France.

Having led at halfway, Stone’s third round saw him slip down to a share of eighth as play headed to the final round. At 10-under, he was just two strokes off the lead which was shared by four players. Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen of Denmark, his countryman Jeppe Kristian Andersen, American Julian Suri and Germany’s Velten Meyer were all on 12-under-par after Neergaard-Petersen carded five birdies and an eagle in an incredible six-hole stretch on the back nine.

Stone battled at the start with three bogeys in the first six holes. But he pulled things back to level-par through 12 holes. He dropped a shot on the 18th, however, to slip out of a share of second.

Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith was on nine-under after the third round in a share of 12th after his fine six-under-par 66.

Martin Vorster, like Stone, also battled to a one-over 73. He was in a share of 49th.
