After fog disrupted the first day on Thursday of the DP World Tour’s Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans Montana, Switzerland, Brandon Stone managed to get to the clubhouse at three-under-par 67.
That was on Friday morning while the first round was still in progress, with some players only just having teed off by 10:30am South African time.
Stone had a wonderful front nine with five birdies to turn in 30, but he dropped two strokes on the homeward nine without picking up any more shots. As a result, he was three strokes off the lead at that stage. Both his bogeys came on par-threes from wayward tee shots that leaked to the right on the 11th and 16th.
Jacques Kruyswijk had also completed his first round, and was on two-under-par 68 together with, amongst others, Richard Sterne. Louis Albertse was in on one-under 69, as was Jayden Schaper.
Erik van Rooyen signed for a level-par 70, while Ockie Strydom and Dylan Frittelli were in on one-over 71. Ryan van Velzen and Neil Schietekat had three-over 73s.
