Brandon Stone continued his return to form on Thursday with a bogey-free five-under-par 65 in the first round of the DP World Tour’s Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans Montana, Switzerland.
He started his round on the 10th, and made birdies on 11, 15 and 18, and picked up two more on the front nine as he ended the day on a share of seventh. He was just two strokes off the lead which was shared by England’s Alex Fitzpatrick and Spaniard Alfredo Garcia-Hereda on seven-under.
Stone picked up two more birdies on the seventh and eighth as he sought to build on a great second round last week which was followed by a pair of weekend one-over 73s in the Betfred British Masters. He’ll be looking to be more consistent this week and cement his return to the DP World Tour after a season spent on the Challenge Tour.
Jayden Schaper had two eagles in his opening round of three-under-par 67, and he was in a share of 20th.
