Brandon Stone is showing all the signs of being back to his best: He carded a second-successive eight-under-par 64 on Sunday to climb 17 places on the leaderboard as he finished seventh in the DP World Tour’s Volvo China Open.

After the third round was cancelled and the tournament reduced to 54 holes, Stone pitched up for the final round and showed great intent from the get-go. He made three successive birdies on the first three holes, and, although he dropped shots on the fifth and sixth, he regained those with birdies on seven and nine. He was bogey-free on the way home, and an eagle-three on 17 rounded out a good day. He finished the tournament on 14-under-par.

It was his second top-10 finish on the DP World Tour for the season after his fourth in the Ras Al Kaimah Championship back in January, and just his third since 2022. The showing will catapult him 28 places up the Race to Dubai listings to 68th and sets him up to start performing the way he did when he won the Scottish Open in 2018.

The tournament was won by Spaniard Adrian Otaegui at 18-under-par after Italy’s Guido Migliozzi bogeyed the 17th to lose out by one stroke.

Zander Lombard slipped to a closing one-over-par 73 to finish in a share of 17th on nine-under-par. Casey Jarvis had a two-over 74 in the final round to finish on three-under in a share of 63rd, and Dylan Frittelli carded a closing six-over 78 to finish 67th on two-over.
