Brandon Stone dropped just a single shot on Thursday in the Challenge Tour’s Swiss Challenge at Golf Saint Apollinaire in Folgensbourg, France on his way to a share of second after the first round on six-under-par.

Stone started his round on the 10th with two birdies in a row, and he made two more to turn in four-under 32. He picked up a fifth stroke on the first after the turn, but he dropped a shot on the third. He reversed that drop with a birdie on the fifth, and closed out his round with another gain on the ninth.

He was just one shot off the lead which was held by England’s Sam Bairstow. Stone shared second with Italy’s Matteo Manassero and Swede Robin Petersson. There were 10 players on five-under-par in a share of fifth, including Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith.

Keenan Davidse was a further shot back on four-under in a share of 15th, and Jacques Kruyswijk was in a share of 50th on two-under-par.

Darren Fichardt was on one-under together with Martin Vorster in a share of 67th, and Jaco Prinsloo in a share of 97th on one-over. Casey Jarvis battled to a four-over-par 76 and a share of 123rd.
