A bogey-free five-under-par 67 on Friday lifted Brandon Stone inside the top 10 through 36 holes of the DP World Tour’s BMW International Open at Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich, Germany.
Stone picked up three birdies on the front nine, and two more on the back as he moved to seven-under-par for the tournament in a share of 10th. That was five strokes off the lead which was held by Davis Bryant of the United States, who carded a nine-under-par 63 to hit the front by two from Kristoffer Reitan of Norway. Bryant’s round included a hole-in-one on the 12th, as well as nine birdies and two bogeys. He started his round on the 10th.
“It was probably up there with Q-School final round where I shot 62, nine-under,” said Bryant. “I don’t really know what happened today. I think the ace kind of jumpstarted things. It was just one shot at a time, to be honest. We had a lot of really good numbers, full-stock shots, which is nice. Controlling your numbers and spin is key with soft greens, and like I said, today I just fell on a lot of good numbers. Golf’s fun when that happens.”
Behind Stone, Zander Lombard was on five-under after a bogey-free second round of six-under-par 66 in a share of 26th, while Dylan Naidoo was a shot back on four-under in a share of 37th after his three-under 69. Shaun Norris was also in 37th after a second round of 70.
Jacques Kruyswijk made the cut on the number at three-under after a 71 put him in a share of 53rd.
