For 10 holes on Saturday, Brandon Stone didn’t make a single par as he navigated moving day in the DP World Tour’s BMW International Open at Golfclub München Eichenried, in Munich, Germany in four-under-par 68.
After opening with a pair of pars on the first and the second, he bogeyed the third. That set off a run which included six birdies and three more bogeys. Things settled down after that and he picked up two more birdies down the stretch without dropping a shot – and, crucially, making a few pars along the way.
His third-round score took him to 11-under-par for the tournament through 54 holes, and put him in a share of ninth ahead of the final round. He was five strokes off the lead, held by Daniel Brown of England on 16-under after his seven-under 65 in the third round. Brown was one clear of countryman Jordan Smith, with Joost Luiten of the Netherlands in third on 13-under. Stone shared third with Spain’s Ivan Cantero and Ashun Wu of China.
Jacques Kruyswijk signed for a seven-under-par 65 in his third round, and he climbed into a share of 20th on eight-under-par.
Dylan Naidoo and Shaun Norris were on five-under in a share of 41st after rounds of 71 each, while Zander Lombard was down in a share of 64th on two-under after his three-over 75.
