James Kingston had his best round of the tournament on Sunday as he closed out the Legends Tour’s Black Desert NI Legends at Galgorm Castle Golf Club in Ballymena, Northern Ireland with a three-under-par 69.
Kingston’s four birdies and a bogey took him to seven-under-par for the tournament and put him in a share of fifth, together with Adilson Da Silva and Steve Webster and Andrew Marshall of England.
Up front, Austria’s Markus Brier held his nerve in strong winds on the final day to claim a first Legends Tour victory since 2021. Rounds of 65, 69 and 70 saw him finish at 12-under-par, two clear of Sweden’s Mikael Lundberg, with Lionel Alexandre and Phillip Price a further shot back at nine-under.
After several years of struggling to find his game, two-time DP World Tour winner Brier was delighted to be back in the winner’s circle after a masterclass in course management and shot making. “I’m so happy. The last two years were not what I wanted so to come back like this in Northern Ireland just feels so good,” said the Austrian.
Darren Fichardt closed with a two-over 74 to finish in a share of 23rd on two-under, while Keith Horne was in a share of 26th after his closing 74.
