Christiaan Bezuidenhout put it all together on Sunday in the final round of the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with a closing four-under-par 66 seeing him climb into a share of 25th.
It was a bogey-free effort from Bezuidenhout which saw him finish one-over-par for the tournament, 11 shots off the pace of first-time winner Sepp Straka of Austria, who also closed with a 66 to defeat former Open champion Shane Lowry by one. American Kurt Kitayama was in third a further shot back on eight-under.
Bezuidenhout wasn’t the top-finishing South African, however: Dylan Frittelli closed with a two-over-par 72 to be level-par for the tournament in a share of 16th. Behind Bezuidenhout, Louis Oosthuizen carded a final-round level-par 70 to finish in a share of 30th.
Frittelli’s finish saw him climb inside the top 100 in the FedEx Cup rankings to 83rd, while Bezuidenhout went up 10 places into 77th. Oosthuizen, playing just his second tournament on the PGA Tour this season went up two spots to 120th.
