Oliver Goldhill had a brilliant bogey-free 10-under-par 62 on Tuesday to move into a three-stroke lead ahead of the final round of the Bushveld Tour’s Race to Q-School Series #1 at The Els Club Copperleaf.
Goldhill made four birdies on his front nine to turn in four-under, and then picked up six more on his way home to move to 11-under through 36 holes. That gave him three shots of daylight between himself and first-round leader Daniel Cronje.
Cronje had a great second round, with his five-under 67 lifting him to eight-under for the tournament. It just wasn’t good enough to keep him in close contact with Goldhill.
In a share of third, amateur Jere Brits had a second round of 69 to move to six-under. With him was Louis Libenberg, who had a five-under 67 in the second round.
Sunshine Ladies Tour professional Danielle du Toit missed the cut after a second round of four-over 76 dropped her six-over for the tournament.
