The low round of the day on Saturday saw Hennie du Plessis shoot up the leaderboard to a share of 12th after the third round of the Asian Tour’s International Series Oman at Al Mouj Golf in Muscat.

It was a sparkling effort by Du Plessis after the tough windy conditions of the second round had made scoring next to impossible. He made an eagle and six birdies on his way to his eight-under-par 64, and didn’t drop a shot. He finished 54 holes at two-under-par for the tournament, alone in 12th place.

The lead was held by Japan’s Takumi Kanaya at nine-under-par, one shot clear of countryman Ryo Hisatsune. Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjana was in third on six-under, with Sergio Garcia and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann in a share of fourth on five-under.

Branden Grace had a three-under-par 69 in the third round to move to level-par and a share of 16th.

Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent was in a share of 21st, and his bother Kieran in a share of 59th.
