Jayden Schaper finished inside the top 10 on Sunday for his fourth such result of the DP World Tour season as he closed the Austrian Alpine Open at Gut Altentann Golf Club in Salzburg with a three-under-par 67.

His 13-under total for the tournament gave him a share of fifth, six shots behind the winner. Germany’s Nicolai von Dellinghausen pulled clear of his countryman Marcel Schneider, who had led through the first three rounds, with his closing five-under 65. Schneider had a 68 and shared second with the fast-finishing Kristofer Reitan of Denmark. Reitan who won the previous week, had a 10-under 60.

Schaper had two birdies on his front nine on the fourth and the sixth as it looked as if he might challenge for the lead. But he hit his approach on the par-five ninth into the water short of the green, and the resultant bogey saw him slip back. Birdies on 15 and 18 completed a good week for him as he was projected to rise inside the top 30 of the Race to Dubai rankings.

It was his first top 10 since his share of ninth in the Joburg Open, and it joins his fourth in the Magical Kenya Open and share of fifth at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Brandon Stone finished just outside the top 10 with his closing two-under 68 giving him a 10-under-par total and a share of 11th.

Zander Lomabard had a closing level-par 70 to finish in a share of 42nd on three-under, and Robin Williams battled to a three-over 73 to slip to a share of 56th on one-under-par.
