It wasn’t a good day for Retief Goosen as he slipped to a six-over-par 78 on Friday in the second round of the Senior Open Championship at Carnoustie Golf Club and a share of 33rd at the halfway mark.

Goosen made just two birdies in his round, after dropping three shots in a row from the fifth to the seventh on the outward nine. He made five bogeys on the homeward nine, with his birdies coming on the 12th and 14th. He was on five-over through 36 holes.

Goosen shared 33rd with, amongst others, Adilson Da Silva, who managed to put together a one-under 71 in the second round.

Keith Horne had a four-over 76 in the second round, and, at six-over he made the cut in a share of 49th. Doug McGuigan, playing under the Scottish flag, had a six-over 78 in the second round, and he too will be in action at the weekend with his seven-under total putting him in a share of 60th.
