Christiaan Bezuidenhout concluded a tough week on Sunday with a closing three-over-par 74 dropping him to a share of 65th in the 78-man field of the PGA Tour’s CJ Cup in South Carolina.

Bezuidenhout made two birdies and five bogeys to go with his first three rounds of 70, 71 and 75 to finish the tournament on six-over-par. That put him 23 shots behind the winner, Rory McIroy, who marched back to the top spot in the world rankings with his one stroke win over Kurt Kitayama. That was despite McIlroy closing with successive bogeys on 17 and 18 after he had already done enough to regain the number one ranking for the ninth time in his career.

Bezuidenhout slipped to 54th on the early FedEx Cup rankings from 45th.
