Erik van Rooyen got back inside the world’s top 200 on the Official World Golf Ranking this week with a 15-place boost up the list from his performance in the Horizon Irish Open.
Van Rooyen was already on the rise with a solid showing in Switzerland the week before, and his share of 16th in Ireland on the DP World Tour was just the kind of encouragement he needed ahead of his return to the United States and his participation in the PGA Tour’s Fall Series in the Fortinet Championship.
Thriston Lawrence’s share of third in Ireland cemented his place as the leading South African on the list, and his 19-place climb put him back inside the world’s top 100.
Four other players inside the list of top 20 South Africans, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Garrick Higgo, MJ Daffue and Dylan Frittelli all get the opportunity to shake off some rust and improve their standings with the resumption of play on the PGA Tour. Bezuidenhout, in particular, will want to reverse his downward trend, and, like Lawrence, get back inside the world’s top 100.
