Erik van Rooyen had a three-under-par 69 in the opening round of the Corales Puntacana Championship on the PGA Tour in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic on Thursday.
That gave him a share of 13th, three shots behind the lead which was shared at six-under by Brice Garnett and Ben Martin of the United States. They led by one from England’s Matt Wallace, with Ricky Barnes, Sean O’Hair, Kelly Kraft, Max McGreevy and Dylan Wu, all of the United States, in a share of fourth.
Behind him, MJ Daffue opened with a one-under 71.
