A late bogey restricted Daniel van Tonder to three-under-par 68 on Thursday in the first round of the HotelPlanner Tour’s The Dutch Futures at The Dutch in Spijk, Netherlands.
But his four birdies helped him to a share of fourth, just two strokes off the lead as he looks to try and win a third title on the tour this season to fast-track a return to the DP World Tour.
Up front, Dermot McElroy posted an impressive bogey-free five under par round of 66 to set the pace. Frenchman Nathan Legendre and Scot Euan Walker sit one shot back on four-under-par. Spanish duo Lucas Vacarisas and Santiago Tarrio, French pair Maxence Giboudot and Andoni Etchenique, New Zealander Sam Jones, German Tiger Christensen and the UAE’s Joshua Grenville-Wood all sit at three-under with Van Tonder.
Wilco Nienaber was on one-over in a share of 58th, while Bryce Easton was on three-over-par. Jovan Rebula battled to 11-over-par and was down in a share of 154th in last place.
