Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent closed with a four-over-par 76 on Sunday in the final round of the Japan Golf Tour’s Sansan KBC Augusta tournament to finish nine-under-par in a share of 12th place.
On a tough day for scoring, Vincent made two birdies, four bogeys and a double-bogey to go with his first three rounds of 67-66-70. He was seven strokes behind the winner Riki Kawamoto of Japan, who had a two-under 70 in the final round to best South Korea’s Sang-Hee Lee by one shot.
Behind Vincent, South Africa’s Jbe’ Kruger also had a tough closing round, his five-over-par 77 seeing him finish on six-under-par for the tournament and in a share of 28th.
Rookie professional Kawamoto birdied the final hole to capture his maiden victory on the Japan Golf Tour. The 22-year-old, who earned a start at the Keya Golf Club through a sponsor’s invite, became the youngest winner since the tournament’s inception in 1973, bettering the record set by Yuta Ikeda when he won the 2009 edition at 23.
