Justin Walters carded a one-under-par 71 on Friday in windy conditions to move closer to the top 10 after the second round of the HotelPlanner Tour’s Challenge de Cadiz at Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri in Cadiz, Spain.
It was only a late double-bogey, on the 17th, which stopped him from signing for a three-under which would have put him in closer with the lead. Instead, that six on 17 took him to three-under through 36 holes and a share of 11th.
He was seven strokes off the lead, which was held at 10-under by the first-round leader, Quim Vidal of Spain. Vidal added a three-under 69 to his opening 65 to lead by one from France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy.
In a share of 11th with Walters and nine other players was fellow-South African JC Ritchie, who had a level-par 72 in his second round.
Rhys Enoch of Wales missed the cut by a single stroke after his one-under 71 in the second round took him to one-over through 36 holes.
