Justin Walters was the leading South African after his second round of one-over-par 71 on Friday in the Challenge Tour’s Euram Bank Open at Golf Club Adamstal in Ramsau, Austria.

He opened with a five-under 65, but a double-bogey rather hampered his efforts in the second round, as did five bogeys to go with his six birdies. At four-under for the tournament, he was in a share of 21st at the halfway stage, five strokes off the lead.

Up front, there was a three-way tie on nine-under between Italy’s Pietro Bovari, who had a 64 in the second round, England’s Jamie Rutherford, who also went six-under in the second round, and Frank Kennedy, another Englishman, who had a second round of four-under 66.

Rupert Kaminski was the next-best of the South Africans, with a second round of three-under-par 67 moving him to three-under for the tournament and a share of 33rd. That was a position he shared with Bryce Easton, amongst others, after Easton had a four-under 66 in the second round.

Robin Williams had a one-over 71 in the second round to slip to two-under for the tournament and a share of 45th.

Louis Albertse, Dylan Naidoo and Tristen Strydom all missed the cut.
