Justin Walters finished as the leading South African on Sunday as he carded a two-over-par 74 to finish in a share of 23rd in the DP World Tour’s Betfred British Masters at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England.

Five bogeys on the front nine hampered his chances of a better finish as he turned in four-over-par 40 after making a birdie on the fourth. He pulled things together on the back nine, making two birdies without dropping a shot as he moved to three-under-par for the tournament.

Up ahead, Daniel Hillier of New Zealand produced a barnstorming finish to claim his maiden DP World Tour title. Hiller went eagle-birdie-eagle from 15th hole to pull two clear of Oliver Wilson of England and American Gunner Wiebe. Calum Hill of Scotland, his compatriot Ewen Ferguson and Justin Rose shared fourth on seven-under, three strokes behind Hillier.

Up ahead of Walters, two-time Sunshine Tour winner Rhys Enoch of Wales carded a closing level-par 72 to finish on four-under for a share of 15th.

Wilco Nienaber finished strongly with a three-under-par 69 to move to two-under and a share of 28th, while Jayden Schaper and Thriston Lawrence were in a share of 39th on level-par after rounds of 73 and 72 respectively.

Thomas Aiken was in a share of 49th on one-over, while Bryce Easton, who was South Africa’s leading player heading in to the final round in a share of eighth, had a horrible seven-over to close to slip to a share of 57th on two-over. Also on two-over was Deon Germishuys.

Ockie Strydom closed with a 75 to be in a share of 74th on six-over.
