Robin Williams claimed a share of fifth at the weekend in the Challenge de España, and that gave him a 25-place boost on the latest Official World Golf Ranking issued on Monday.
Williams got himself into 374th place, just four below his career-high of 370th after he finished ninth in the DP World Tour’s SDC Championship on March 3. With a DP World Tour card awaiting him in November this year, a bunch of solid performances in Europe where he can get them on the DP World Tour as well as the Challenge Tour will set him up well.
South Africa’s top two players on the official list were also up: Christiaan Bezuidenhout went up one place to 53rd, and Erik van Rooyen was up two to 64th. Thriston Lawrence dropped a spot despite a solid week on the PGA Tour in the Myrtle Beach Classic.
Michael Hollick’s fine win in the FBC Zimbabwe Open at Royal Harare at the weekend secured him a 294-place jump up the rankings from 1,039th to 745th. Darren Fichardt was runner-up in that tournament, and the veteran was rewarded with a 15-place jump to 365th.
