Robin Williams carded a one-under-par 71 on Friday in the second round of the Challenge Tour’s Challenge de España at Real Club Sevilla Golf in Seville, Spain, to move to four-under through halfway and a share of 18th.

Williams, who just last month finished as Rookie of the Year on the Sunshine Tour, and second on the Order of Merit, is readying himself for his accession to the DP World Tour in November, and he made two birdies and a bogey in an early venture into European action at a slightly lower level on the Challenge Tour.

At four-under, he was just five strokes off the lead which was held by Sebastien Gros of France, who carded a superb eight-under 64 in the second round. Gros led by two from six players on seven-under, with two sharing eighth on six-under, and eight on five-under in a share of 10th ahead of Williams.

Potchefstroom’s Welshman Rhys Enoch, who shared the lead after the first round, slipped to a one-over 73 in the second round to be in a share of 20th on three-under-par. Bryce Easton improved to two-under at the halfway mark with a two-under 70 in the second round.

Wilco Nienaber and Dylan Naidoo missed the cut by one stroke after it fell on level-par and they had rounds of level-par and two-over respectively
